Education
Teaching has run alongside theatre practice for my whole career. I have been a core member of the visiting lecturer team on the BA ETA at Rose Bruford College since 2004, a role which also includes coordinating the first year module Performer as Theatre-Maker as well as teaching and supervising students across the degree. I have also taught on the Theatre Studies Distance Learning BA and directed projects on the MA programme (Theatre for Young Audiences and Actor musician) and Foundation programme for Rose Bruford. Other academic teaching includes, CSSD, Goldsmiths , ICTheatre (now performer’s college) and Northbrook College. In addition I run workshops in the community and training for professional companies.
In 2020 I co-founded PuppetBox with Annie Brooks - a company that seeks to increase access to quality puppets and puppetry training. We sell neutral puppets that are hand made to order and deliver a range of workshops and CPD trainings.

“The workshop was designed brilliantly and took a step-by-step approach with plenty of opportunity for discussion and feedback. The surroundings were also absolutely lovely and the energy and enthusiasm from Sophie put all at ease! ”
